Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt issuing visas to holders of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she planned to visit his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
