The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing action and madness with the same excitement, all while telling engaging, politically driven stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by featuring a different location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the nature of society through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, visionary approach to the television.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
