The Hit Drama Announced for 7th Series on the British Broadcaster
The acclaimed crime series AC-12 will make a comeback for its seventh season, announced by the broadcaster.
A brand new six-episode series created by the show's creator will begin filming in Northern Ireland this spring, as confirmed by the production team.
The actress shared her enthusiasm about the return, stating she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Adrian Dunbar added, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together soon."
The previous season concluded in 2021 with a finale that drew in more than 17 million audience members. Speculation about a new season have been widespread ever since, but official word only came recently.
Fresh Obstacles for The Team
The seventh season begins with AC-12 no longer existing and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, as revealed by production details.
Martin Compston's character, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain tasked to combat corruption within the police force.
Their work "has never been more difficult", and under these circumstances, these officers will take on their "most delicate case to date."
Fresh Face and Intricate Plot
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charming officer known for busts of criminal networks, faces allegations of misusing his authority to become a offender.
Yet, his case could be a intentional diversion from a bigger threat still active in the shadows, plot details suggested.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio commented: "All cast and crew feels enormous gratitude to the dedicated viewers."
"It's an honor to have had so many followers track the ups and downs of AC-12 over multiple series and we are thrilled to be returning for a new installment."
He added: "Corruption in the UK is supposed to have ended while Line of Duty was not airing, so I've been forced to use my imagination."
Actor Responses
The Scottish actor described being part of the series as "the role of a career".
"Not only the program's popularity but the people I've worked with I now call some of my closest friends."
"I can't wait to wear the uniform again and reunite with everyone," he said.
Vicky McClure remarked: "Obviously I'm so excited the show is back! Eager to work with the creator, Compston and Dunbar again. The city, we'll be there shortly!"
Adrian Dunbar commented: "As we count down the AC-12 return, how exciting it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming next year."
"Delighted with the news and looking forward to those mercurial twists and turns."
Show History
The drama launched in 2012 and became one of the most popular television series of the last decade, attracting guest stars such as Thandiwe Newton.
Broadcasters has not yet announced exactly the new season will premiere.
