A woman accused with stalking Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a voicemail message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has persistently declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial indicted with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the court learned phone records and information recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most publicized missing child cases and remains unsolved.
'I Do Not Need Money'
A separate recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What happens next? Is that not significant for you?"
"I do not need money, I have a life here in Poland, I only wish to know," the message continued.
The jury was told that via emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who gathered the information, advised the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.
On that date, Mr McCann picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."
That day Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I will prove my position."
The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a relationship online with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in December 2024.
Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be taken seriously in the period preceding the visit to Rothley, Leicestershire, in December 2024.
The court heard message exchanges between the two individuals, in November 2024, planning attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.
"We must take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the trip to their home, Mrs Spragg sent a communication which said: "We're currently positioned near the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark resembling investigators. I desired to achieve this with someone else I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
The trial ongoing.
