Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Derogatory Chants Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of Sheffield United only half a year following starting derogatory chants aimed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club since leaving Leeds, has put pen to paper on a contract with the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. His seven-year career with Leeds was ended amicably in August.

One of the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds involved leading abusive songs about Wilder during the club’s success festivities in April. Now, the former England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to pull his beloved club out of the drop zone.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker & the Manager

Both men had a past prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League the previous campaign and United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion while Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

All seems has been put behind them with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford looking to revive his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. A repentant Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I have no problem whatsoever with it. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow professional! However I valued and admired him calling me.

“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel too and had a longer discussion with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and accept it and that is an integral part of football across all levels, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Career Struggles

The forward made 18 appearances for Leeds last season however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury in recent years.
