Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Serious blow' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson experienced discomfort in his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

The touring camp reported the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the tour beginning on 4 January gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was called up as injury reinforcement.

The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, managing only three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 as a batsman as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he returned for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of that over, he sent down a variation to Travis Head and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
