Jurgen Klopp states coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is something that could happen. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign that included continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would welcome the possibility of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage another team within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding the specific conditions would need to occur to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories so there was often a very good mood at the club. I still have Van Dijk's laughter in my ear as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, superb talent. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a road accident with his brother in July.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
