Fans Call for Arrest of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are urging that a person who breached a barrier and grabbed the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features clips of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while some demanded digital services to ban Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
